We protect people and wildlife from the effects of climate change, flooding and environmental incidents. And it takes more than our technical disciplines to do this. Drawing on professional expertise in areas like IT, HR, communications and finance, we work closely with colleagues across the wider Defra Group to:
- support decision-making through the provision of expert services such as legal, planning and performance, funding, and assurance.
- provide a range of cross cutting, enabling services to support the organisation to be agile and efficient
- lead the organisation’s future thinking through an increasing focus on digital, transformation and strategy

“I’m proud to work for an organisation that cares about the environment and cares about me.”
Gina, Support Officer People & Inclusion,
Strategy, Transformation and Assurance Directorate
