Our newly established Transformation Portfolio Management Office (TMO) is focused on creating a centralised portfolio that drives change, transformation, and continuous improvement. We’re currently looking for a Benefits and Efficiencies Advisor to join the team.
The team plays a vital role in shaping and optimising the project Portfolios, ensuring strategic alignment, enhancing decision-making, and providing evidence to manage risk across change and transformation.
As a Benefits and Efficiencies Specialist, you will support the developing and capturing, assuring, analysis of benefits and efficiencies data across programmes, projects, and portfolios, contributing to the development and embedding of standards for benefits and value management.
- contributing to the improvement and application of benefits management standards through providing advice, guidance and training to build benefits management capability across the portfolio and the wider organisation
- enabling consistent and evidence‑based reporting of benefits and efficiencies across the Environment Agency, this may include tool development and building/maintaining dashboards
- support the capture, tracking, and assurance of benefits data across the lifecycle of change initiatives, working with projects, programmes, and portfolios.
- supporting the development of benefits strategy, benefits maps, profiles, registers, and benefits realisation plans for projects, programmes and portfolios
You will also be involved in the reporting on benefits and efficiencies data at portfolio level by:
- Working closely with stakeholders, you will collaborate across directorates to support benefits reviews, promote ownership, and drive continuous improvement in benefits and efficiencies management practices.
- Opportunities to assist and deputise for the Portfolio Benefits Manager, as appropriate to support professional development and career progression.
You’ll join the Transformation Management Office (TMO) which is part of the Service Transformation Team within the STA (Strategy, Transformation and Assurance) directorate.
The TMO supports change, transformation, and continuous improvement across the business.
STA foster inclusive, supportive cultures and use evidence and innovation to influence policy and delivery.
Essential Skills include:
- Experience as a Benefits, Efficiencies, Continuous Improvement, or Business Analyst
- Ability to build effective working relationships across organisational boundaries
- Strong communication skills, able to convey complex insights to non-technical audiences
- Self-motivated and adaptable, working independently and as part of a team
- Experience building and maintaining dashboards or reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, advanced Excel)
- Managing Benefits Foundation and/or Practitioner qualification (or willingness to work towards this).
- Experience in data analysis and visualisation, including development of Power BI reports.
- Experience working with internal stakeholders within an organisation.
- Experience working within the Environment Agency or another organisation on business improvement, digital or transformation would be highly desirable.
Experience directly working on benefits management activities within a project, programme or portfolio would be highly desirable.

You’ll have an EA Office base location, as a national role the working location is hybrid.
