Are you an experienced people leader who thrives on developing high-performing teams, delivering excellent outcomes and creating efficient ways of working? 

We're looking for a Business Operations Senior Team Leader to lead our Business Operations team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team delivering critical operational support services, ensuring work is effectively prioritised, allocated and completed to a high standard. 

Your leadership will help ensure we deliver a consistent, high-quality service to customers and stakeholders while maintaining a strong focus on efficiency, continuous improvement and colleague wellbeing. 

You'll lead, coach and develop a new team of 5 colleagues, creating the conditions for them to succeed and deliver their best work. A key aspect of this role will be maintaining oversight of workflow allocation across our Evidence Services department, ensuring resources are effectively deployed to meet demand, manage priorities and achieve service commitments.  You'll be motivated by engaging with our customers, ensuring our services meet business needs and identifying place to enhance and improve our service offer.   

You will also be expected to play a leadership role not just within Evidence Services but across our wider Digital, Data, and Evidence (DDE) function, through ownership of a portfolio or similar initiative.   

Working closely with colleagues across Business Operations and the wider department, you'll help balance workloads, identify and resolve delivery risks, maintain strong customer relationships and continually improve operational processes. You'll play an important role in embedding new ways of working and supporting colleagues through change as we continue to evolve our services.

The Team:

The role sits within Evidence Services, part of Digital Data and Evidence.   

Evidence Services provides expert evidence, analysis and technical services that help the Environment Agency make informed decisions for people, places and the environment. 

As Evidence Services evolves, our services will be shaped by people who bring clarity, expertise and conviction to their work.

Experience/Skills Required:

You’ll need: 

  • Proven experience leading, motivating and developing high-performing teams, including colleagues working across multiple locations;  
  • The ability to bring people together around a shared purpose, particularly during periods of change or uncertainty;  
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and work effectively with senior leaders, customers and stakeholders;  
  • Sound judgement when balancing competing priorities and making decisions about resources, risks and delivery commitments;  
  • Experience delivering results through others, whether through line management, coaching, mentoring, project leadership or matrix management;  
  • A track record of improving services, processes or ways of working to achieve better outcomes.  
  • Leading a team and service through change. 

Desirable  

  • Knowledge or experience of flood and coastal risk management, flood risk evidence or modelling, or a related technical discipline. This is desirable but not essential.
