Do you want to work at the heart of Innovation and Delivery(I&D) in the Environment & Business directorate (E&B) helping us to create better places for people, wildlife and the environment?
This role sits in the E&B Portfolio Management Office (PfMO), that drives change, transformation and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will work across E&B, with other portfolios with system and financial experts, to ensure E&B has outstanding financial information and robust P3M system management.
We’re looking for someone who loves turning complex data into clarity. This is a role for a natural problem‑solver who thrives on working innovatively and drives continuous improvement. Using new project management systems, this role will be key to driving innovation around data and reporting, shaping our way-of-working and trialling new tools.
The role is key in creating clear and consistent information for Director and Deputy Directors to fuel key management decisions by presenting the right information at the right time.
The role will:
- Maintain core financial data and information for the E&B Portfolio
- Interpret Portfolio performance and outcomes through data
- Ensure forecasts, in‑year spend and financial risks are accurate and integrated into portfolio reporting.
- Champion high‑quality reporting standards and portfolio data
- Drive continuous improvement through streamline processes, enhance reporting and continually improve how our data flows
- Liaise with Finance and across the organisation
- End of year reporting and budget setting activities

The ideal candidate will have an understanding of finance and data. Working as part of a dispersed team, you will show you can use your initiative to work independently and manage your time effectively.
Essential skills:
Microsoft Office package, specifically Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
Familiarity with digital P3M tools.
Attention to detail, maintaining data accuracy and driving data quality improvements.
Experience in financial reporting and analysis.
Managing financial data, ability to analyse and manipulate it, and present headline outputs/dashboards to peers and senior leaders.
Making decisions and presenting own ideas, based on evidence and interpretation, to make proactive recommendations to peers and senior leaders.
Desirable skills:
Power App and Power BI.
Experience working in a project, programme or portfolio delivery environment.
We are a Category-1 responder, and all staff are required to take on an incident role. You will be given appropriate training and support to find a role that suits your role and situation.
You’ll have an EA Office base location, as a national role the working location is flexible/hybrid, however some travel and overnights may be required.
