This is a fantastic opportunity for you to develop your skills and be part of the Climate & Markets Regulation (Operations) (C&MR(Ops)) team assisting customers to comply with their obligations to the UK Government’s climate change schemes. 

The types of work you may be involved in include:  

 

Registering and supporting operators to meet their compliance obligations. 

Providing advice and guidance to those we regulate. 

Processing permits and applications.  

Managing and protecting our records and data. 

Interpreting new guidance and legislation. 

Data collection and analysis. 

Delivering aspects of compliance audits and enforcement work within regulations. 

Responding to customer enquiries. 

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role. 

Whilst we are working flexibly between office locations and home, occasional travel to offices will be required. Your base location will be Warrington, Sheffield or Preston. Travel/commuting to your contractual office base location is at your own expense. 

The Team:

These roles sit within Climate & Markets Regulation (Operations) (C&MR(Ops)) 

We regulate and administer various UK Government climate change schemes. The aim is to protect and improve our environment.  

Regimes include UK Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), UK ETS Registry, Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases (F-Gas) and Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS), Clean Heat Market Mechanism (CHMM) and Climate Change Agreements (CCA). These regimes are central to ensuring UK greenhouse gas emissions targets are met.

Experience/Skills Required:

Good organisational skills to manage varied workloads, as well as the ability to take personal responsibility for your own performance and development.   

The ability to consistently deliver work to high standards, meet targets and deliver deadlines across multiple areas of work. 

Strong interpersonal and communication skills - demonstrating the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal colleagues and external customers is essential.  

Ability to coordinate reporting of diverse and varied data.   

A continuous improvement mindset. 

Self-motivating and forward thinking. 

Capable of adapting to new/changing IT systems. 

Ability to interpret technical guidance.  

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
