Core Benefits  

  • Based on skills and experience, in which salary ranges are subject to review each year as part of the pay award.

  • The Environment Agency offers a fantastic pension scheme for employees. As part of the Local Government Pension Scheme, you will receive a secure pension income, that’s not based on share prices or stock market fluctuations. The Environment Agency contributes 19% of your pay, with your own contributions ranging between 5.5% and 12.5%, depending on your own pay. You receive tax relief on this contribution, reducing the cost. We also include generous benefits to protect your loved ones.   • Annual holiday entitlement starting at 25 days plus statutory bank holidays (pro-rata for flexible workers). We also offer up to two days paid environmental outcome days each year allowing you the opportunity to give back to the environment. Some examples of outcome days we have done are; beach cleans, habitat restoration and outreach with schools and universities.

We offer flexible working patterns including job share, term time, compressed hours and flexi time scheme. We have option to work flexibly and build up flexi-time credit which allows you take up to 15 additional days leave each year. The use of flexi time schemes is at the discretion of management and subject to business needs.

Health & Wellbeing

  • Access to an independent, confidential service provided by health partners. It’s delivered by a team of health professionals who specialise in occupational medicine, which deals specifically with the relationship between your work and your health. 

  • Environment Agency staff who regularly use a computer for their job or need spectacles for their role are entitled to an eye care pack every 2 years. This includes a free eye test.

  • Access to a wide range of confidential information and counselling services completely free.  Help and support topics include mental wellbeing, financial & legal information, bereavement, retirement and many more.

  • Opportunity to benefit from a wide range of subsidised events and discounts.

  • Optional discounts provided by a number of external providers and health clubs. This includes free access to the Headspace app.
