The work you’ll do

The Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) Regulations 2015 aim to prevent and limit the consequences of major accidents involving dangerous substances — protecting people and the environment.

At the Environment Agency, we regulate COMAH sites in partnership with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as part of the UK’s COMAH Competent Authority.

Available roles

Where you’ll work

Our High Hazard teams are based in five hubs across England. Roles are hub-based with frequent travel within your team’s boundary and occasional travel nationally. The Regulatory Manager role involves regular travel across the country and can be based in any Environment Agency office.

You’ll be recruited into a specific area with a designated office base, but flexibility is key – you’ll need to work with teams in other locations, adapt to changing priorities and support projects and investigations that make a real difference to the environment.

Occasional overnight stays will be required and a full UK driving licence is essential.

Hub office locations:
  1. North (East): Newcastle, Darlington, Leeds, York
  2. North (West): Warrington
  3. Midlands (East): Lincoln, Nottingham
  4. Midlands (West): Sutton Coldfield, Tewkesbury, Bridgwater, Romsey
  5. South East: Welwyn Garden City, Farnham, Ipswich
