What is an industry placement at the Environment Agency?

Our industry placements last up to one-year and are an opportunity to work on a specific project(s) in a team or even on a rotation across teams.

Industry placements
Our 12-month paid industry placements usually start in the late Summer/early Autumn.
Depending on the opportunities we have available, roles will be split into appropriate subject and/or location categories.
Previously, we have recruited for industry placements in:
- Environment and science
- Business and communications
- Process and chemical engineering
- Civil and Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) engineering
Eligibility criteria
Our industry placements are currently open to undergraduates in their second year of study and recent (within the last year) graduates who have a right to work in the UK.
Eligibility criteria is reviewed before the upcoming recruitment campaign, and, therefore, may be subject to change.

Geomatics placements
This is a year-long placement for students who are committed to a career in geomatics and/or the environmental sector. Students will gain valid and relevant exposure to a wide range of geomatics activities. The year will be spent with a small team in the Bath office where students will be supported by a team leader, a geomatics expert, and an independent mentor.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must be in their penultimate year of an undergraduate degree programme which includes remote sensing and/or Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Students must gain approval from their university before applying to this placement.
