Equality, Diversity, Inclusion
We are committed to being an equitable and diverse organisation with an inclusive culture. We want all our employees to value differences and include everyone. We believe everyone should have an equal chance of achieving their life goals.
We want you to feel good about where you work and why you come to work, we want you to be yourself without fear of judgement or prejudice.
Value difference: include everyone
At the Environment Agency, we know our people are our greatest asset. It’s important to us that every member of our workforce feels they:
- can bring their whole selves to work
- are appreciated and valued for who they are
We want our workforce to reflect the diverse communities we work with, to help us create a better place for everyone. Watch the video to hear from some of our employees, and hear about their experience with us.
Why equality, diversity and inclusion are important to us
Our society and environment are changing, bringing about new challenges. A diverse workforce will help us tackle the climate emergency and improve positive outcomes for the communities we serve.
A focus on equality, diversity, and inclusion ensures our decisions are fair, transparent, improve efficiency and innovation. We are all different, with different abilities and knowledge. We can do and achieve more for people and the environment when we bring our individual skills together.
We have an increasing number of employee networks and forums that support our corporate equality, diversity and inclusion aspirations. We currently have 22 networks including:
- Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (B.A.M.E)
- LGBT+
- Mental health
- Disability (such as dyslexia, hearing loss, visual impairment)
- Faith and belief
We value a diverse workforce and welcome applications from all sections of the community who wish to join an organisation which values everyone. We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME), disabled, female and LGBT+ candidates, so that our team really does represent and understand the communities we work with.
We want all our people to feel good about where they work and why they come to work, that they can be themselves without fear of judgement or prejudice and that all views are equally respected and valued. We believe everyone should have an equal chance of achieving their life goals.
